PSG summer signing Ferran Torres has been recognised by Ligue 1 for his excellent contributions across the month of September, by officially winning the Player of the Month award for September.
It has been a very fruitful start to life at the Parc Des Princes for PSG forward Ferran Torres, having signed from FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
In just six games so far, he has already found the back of the net seven times, and he has done so in just 325 minutes of football, which is the equivalent of around 3.6 full 90's of football. Just three starts in that time.
Last month, he scored goals in tricky away games against Brest and in the Classique at Marseille. PSG won these games 1-0 and 2-1, so his contributions were worth a huge four points.
Owing to this form, Torres has been recognised by Ligue 1 by officially winning the Player of the Month award for September. He fended off competition from Paris Brunner of AS Monaco and Lassine Sinayoko of Paris FC, who had rounded off the top 3 nominees for the award.
Great to see the Spaniard rewarded for his great start to life at PSG. He also scored another three goals last month in the UEFA Champions League, during the 6-1 win at home to Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava. So, five goals in four games (alongside the defeat at home to Monaco at the start of the month) for September.
The worry now is that the 26-year old picked up an injury whilst on international duty with the Spain national team. He had started and played 55 minutes of their opening UEFA Nations League clash away to England, before being an unused sub in the 4-1 win at home to Croatia. So, it seems as if he picked up a knock (or potentially worse) in training ahead of their clash with Czechia.
Fortunately, the extended break could come in handy in that regard. It has been over a week since he pulled out of the Spain squad. Luis Enrique's side are back in action on Saturday (the 10th of October) night against Le Mans, and it remains to be seen whether or not Torres will be fit and available for that game, so one to keep an eye on.
He is currently listed as doubtful with 'physical discomfort' for the game. We know that Ousmane Dembele is being rested by PSG for this one, so if Torres does not play, it will be interesting to see who leads the line. Perhaps Khivhca Kvaratskhelia as the false 9? We shall see.
