PSG injury updates: Kvaratskhelia is out for months with a torn ACL, while Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Nuno Mendes face shorter absences. Here's what we know.
Although Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is out for several months after a serious knee injury, Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Nuno Mendes are dealing with less serious thigh injuries and will miss only a few weeks. How long exactly? Let's take a look.
PSG has handled its demanding October so far with four wins in four matches: against Le Mans and Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and, above all, against Manchester City and Barça in the Champions League.
Unfortunately, Luis Enrique's ranks suffered casualties: Nuno Mendes injured his left thigh against Strasbourg last Saturday, while Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos injured their thighs against Barça on Tuesday night. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a serious right knee injury against Barcelona and will need surgery.
The Georgian, the victim of "a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee," will be out for several months, at least 6 or 7, but it is very difficult to say right now when Kvara will return to the field.
Mathematically, a return before the end of May is possible if PSG is still in contention in the Champions League, but it remains very uncertain at this stage. By contrast, the situation is a little clearer and, above all, much less serious for PSG's three other injured players.
According to RMC and Le Parisien, Ousmane Dembélé's absence is estimated at three weeks maximum. Injured on Oct. 20, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner should therefore be able to return on Nov. 10, right in the middle of the international break.
He would miss PSG's next four matches against Lyon (this Sunday or next Monday), Le Havre, Villarreal, and Troyes before potentially playing again against Nice on Saturday, Nov. 21. Will Zinedine Zidane call him up for the November international break? That seems unlikely.
Regarding Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes, PSG spoke of a multi-week absence, as with Dembélé, and L'Équipe suggests in today's edition that the two Parisian defenders could be out until the next international break.
They would thus miss the same matches as Dembélé before potentially returning against Nice, a match scheduled four days before hosting AS Roma in the Champions League. As with Dembélé, it is hoped that the Brazil and Portugal national teams will be reasonable and will not call up players who haven't played since mid-October.
