One day before the Ligue 1 clash with Stade Brestois at the Parc Des Princes, PSG updated its supporters with a medical report on a select group of players.
Tomorrow evening, PSG could in theory secure a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title if they beat 12th-placed Brest at the Parc Des Princes. Although RC Lens would be six points behind with six points still to play for, Luis Enrique's side would have a superior goal difference of at least 15, which would surely be insurmountable.
There is a worry that the game tomorrow night could have an "After the Lord's Mayor Show" feel to it. The second leg against Bayern Munich in midweek would have taken a lot out of the players physically and mentally.
Meanwhile, Brest will have had the full week on the training ground to prepare for the game, which can only benefit them.
Furthermore, Enrique appears to be without a few key players. Indeed, PSG has issued a medical report this (Saturday) afternoon ahead of the match day 32 clash.
They can confirm that both Willian Pacho and Nuno Mendes have suffered knocks to their right thighs and will undergo treatment in the coming days. Meanwhile, Warren Zaire-Emery is suffering from a back complaint and will also undergo treatment.
Finally, they report that Quentin Ndjantou, Achraf Hakimi, and Lucas Chevalier will continue their treatment, which we can assume is an implication that none of the three will be back for this one.
So, safe to say the team is pretty handicapped for this game. The game against Bayern certainly took its toll. Thank goodness extra time was not required. To have the first choice right back Hakimi out injured, as well as the stand-in Zaire-Emery, is very unfortunate. It will be interesting to see where Enrique goes in that position on Sunday. Senny Mayulu feels like the play.
Not having either Mendes or Pacho is unlucky, too. Lucas Hernandez often fills in for either player, but he, of course, cannot fill in for both. Perhaps, with the first-choice midfield available, we will see Lucas Beraldo drop back into the defense, with Hernandez at left back.
There is also the possibility that Ilya Zabarnyi could come into the heart of the defense, too. At his age, Marquinhos could rest. Though his experience may be leaned on in a game with a number of starters missing. Certainly an interesting one to find out.
Possible XI vs. Brest: Safonov; Mayulu, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Hernandez; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
