With PSG's pre season now truly up and running for good, here is your latest updates on how things are going in training ahead of the forthcoming season.

In just nine days time from now, PSG will begin their 26/27 season as they take on Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup over in Salzburg, Austria.

Therefore, with things on the horizon, pre-season is really becoming very important at the moment, and it is crucial that manager Luis Enrique has as many as his players available as possible leading up to that clash with Villa, the Trophee des Champions vs RC Lens, and the Ligue 1 opener with Rennes, all of which will take place within the next three weeks.

Well, there is some good news on that front. Indeed so, as the quartet of Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos and Ibrahim Mbaye have all reported for pre-season training today (Monday, the 3rd of August 2026).

Pretty good news. That means they should have over a week's training in the legs before the game with Villa, which could well make them available for the game. You may be thinking "Well, Mbaye will probably leave anyway" - whilst that may be true, it is another body available for the time being.

With the French players such as Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue still to return, there is the possibility that Mbaye is needed for the Villa game, and then the club may green light his potential departure thereafter, but let's see. He has been linked with Villa themselves, ironically enough.

The Senegalese winger has had over a month off, with Senegal knocked out of the World Cup in the round of 32, whilst the others have had just under a month off, with Portugal and Brazil both defeated in the round of 16. Ample time to have refreshed and recharged the batteries, you would have thought.

Considering that there wasn't a summer off in 2025 either due to the Club World Cup, it has certainly been some much needed rest, and PSG should bare the fruits of that next season.

Meanwhile, Djameel is reporting that Senny Mayulu has been the stand out performer in pre-season so far. He says that the youngster has returned to PSG campus in top physical shape and sharper than ever. Unlike a lot of players, he had the summer off, and will be reaping the benefits of that. As a result, perhaps we could see him start against Villa, with the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who also did not feature at the World Cup. Let's see.
