PSG are restructuring their bid to meet Parma's valuation for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as a potential one-year loan to Juventus looms.

According to reports by several media outlets, including L’Équipe and journalist Fabrizio Romano, French club Paris Saint-Germain are looking to secure the services of 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Suzuki, who currently plays for Italian top-flight side Parma Calcio 1913, is under contract with the club until  30 June 2029. His current market value stands at €30 million; however, as evidenced by recent developments in the saga regarding his departure from the club, Parma are unwilling to let him go for that amount. I Crociati are reportedly expecting an amount hovering around the range of €35-40 million for the transfer of the player.

Romano posted on his social media handle on X, “Paris Saint-Germain are set to improve their bid for Zion Suzuki, with a different structure compared to the opening €28m plus add-ons.” As reported, Parma have rejected this offer, as they are only interested in letting the player go if they receive a sum equal to or more than €35 million.

It is worth noting that, according to the media outlet TransferFeed, after rejecting their initial offer, PSG are preparing a new proposal for Zion Suzuki; however, the amount is expected to fall short of €45-50 million. It said, “PSG is preparing a new proposal but will not reach 45-50 million euros. An agreement must be reached at a value between the current offer and 45-50 million euros.”

The plan for PSG is to loan out Suzuki to Juventus on a one-year loan immediately after signing him from Parma, bringing him to the club after a year.

Born in the USA, Suzuki moved to Japan, where he joined the academy of Urawa Red Diamonds, from which he graduated in 2020 and became a part of the first team, playing in 8 official J1 League fixtures from 2021-2024. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Belgian Pro League side Sint-Truidense VV, where he played 32 league games. In 2024, Suzuki secured a move to his current club, Parma Calcio 1913, and has since appeared in 57 official league fixtures for the club.

While at Urawa Red Diamonds, Zion Suzuki was part of the squads that won the Emperor’s Cup in 2021, and the AFC Champions League and the Japanese Super Cup in 2022.

In addition to his club career, the goalkeeper has also played for Japan on the international stage since his youth days, having been part of the national team's youth squads from the U15 level. He also made one appearance for the Japanese Olympic team and has played 28 games for the senior Japan national football team. He was the starting goalkeeper for Japan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in the United States of America.

It remains to be seen whether the goalkeeper ends up staying at Parma or PSG secures his transfer, who will then make him play at Juventus for a year before finally arriving at the French club. The saga promises to be one of the more entertaining ones of this summer transfer window.
