FIFA has finally announced the date and venue for the 2026 Intercontinental Cup final, which will see PSG face the Challenger Cup winner in mid-December.

The Intercontinental Cup schedule is finally taking shape. On Thursday, FIFA unveiled the final date and confirmed it will be played on Wednesday, Dec. 16, as expected and roughly corresponding to last year's date (Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025). At that time, PSG won on penalties against Flamengo.

Flamengo will not face PSG again this year, as the Brazilian club lost to Argentina's Estudiantes de La Plata on penalties in the Copa Libertadores semifinals in the early hours of Thursday to Friday.

The Copa Libertadores final will therefore pit Palmeiras against Estudiantes de La Plata on Nov. 28, and the winner of that duel will then challenge Deportivo Toluca in the Derby of the Americas, the name FIFA gives to the Intercontinental Cup's second-round match.

FIFA recently announced that the Derby of the Americas will be played on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Three days later, the Derby of the Americas winner will face Mamelodi Sundowns FC, a South African club, at the same stadium in the Challenger Cup.

Finally, the winner of this Challenger Cup will face PSG on Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the Intercontinental Cup final. This final will also be played in Qatar at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, as it was last year. The kickoff time has not yet been announced, but last year, the PSG vs. Flamengo final began at 6 p.m.

Finally, note that this Intercontinental Cup final will take place for PSG between the derby against Paris FC on Saturday, Dec. 12, and the Coupe de France round of 64, which will be played on the weekend of Dec. 19-20.
