Today - Friday the 23rd of October - we have had official confirmation from Ligue 1 that the match day eight clash at home to Lyon, originally scheduled for this Sunday, has been put back until Monday.
This coming Sunday (the 25th of October), PSG were scheduled to play Lyon in Ligue 1 at the Parc Des Princes, for match day eight of the season.
However, that will now no longer be the case after all. Indeed not, as Ligue 1 have officially confirmed via press release that the game will now take place on Monday evening instead, with a kick off time of 20:30.
This means that, for a second year in a row, PSG's originally scheduled Sunday game will take place on the Monday evening, during the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Last year it was the away game against Marseille, which the team lost 1-0.
For that game, Ousmane Dembele was not present as he was in Paris, picking up his first ever Ballon d'Or. Other players, such as Joao Neves, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola also missed the game. So it is little wonder PSG lost the game.
This time, it feels less likely that Dembele will win the award, but considering he is currently sidelined with an injury, meaning he could in theory attend the gala that will be this time taking place in the English capital of London on Monday evening.
As it stands, it feels like if any PSG player will win the Ballon d'Or this time round, it will be Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. That said, considering he suffered an ACL rupture earlier on this week, it feels very unlikely that he would be able to attend the gala. Perhaps if it was in Paris again, he could have been there on crutches, but it does not feel optimal for him to take a flight to the UK.
In terms of the players currently fit and available to play in the game against Lyon, Warren Zaire-Emery has been nominated for the Golden Boy award, so could that jeopardise his participation in the game? He is a very important player, and this is a very important fixture.
Ah well, let's see. This game now being played on Monday means that PSG will technically play two midweek games, with a trip to Le Havre on Friday evening - quite a quick turnaround from the Lyon game, and one where you would have thought plenty of the squad depth will be needed, particularly with the amount of absentees that Luis Enrique has to contend with at the moment.
So, a reminder: PSG will host Lyon this coming Monday, the 26th of October, at 20:30.
