Mika Godts scored for Belgium against Italy and says he's learning "tremendously" at PSG. The €45 million signing also addressed his World Cup snub.

This summer, Mika Godts signed with PSG for a transfer fee of €45 million. Wearing the number 22, the Belgian international has had an interesting start in Paris.

Despite limited playing time due to the competition for attacking positions in Luis Enrique's squad, the 21-year-old is showing patience. But this move to PSG has already benefited Godts, who has impressed with the national team.

PSG's Mika Godts Shines With Belgium

On Friday against Italy, Godts opened the scoring after a magnificent run.

"The coach told me to persevere. To keep trying those dribbles, even when I didn't succeed. That's how I prefer to play, trusting my intuition. Take that goal, for example. I felt I had to wait long enough before positioning myself. After all, those defenders thought I'd shoot immediately. So I found myself one-on-one with Donnarumma, an excellent goalkeeper, but he dived the wrong way," the PSG player commented after the match, as reported by Nieuwsblad.

Godts also addressed his exclusion from the last World Cup squad.

“I did everything I could to be selected; I had an excellent season at Ajax, but I wasn’t chosen. It wasn’t my fault. Perhaps it even had a positive effect, though. After all, the Belgians’ great performance at the World Cup motivated me to work even harder to earn a call-up. And I succeeded,” the left winger added.

Finally, he acknowledged that his transfer to PSG had automatically given him a new dimension within the national team.

“I was given the number ten, but I didn’t ask for it, mind you. In a way, it’s normal that people look at me differently now that I’m playing for PSG. But I’m still the same player. I’m learning a tremendous amount in Paris. They’re all top-level players. The atmosphere there is excellent. When the interest came in this summer, I didn’t hesitate. It was where I wanted to go. It allowed me to progress, and Ajax did too. If I score that day, it could help me secure a starting place at PSG,” concluded the Belgian international, who faced the French national team on Monday.

So far, Gots has played six matches with PSG this season, recording 1 assist. He also played four games with Ajax before moving to Paris, scoring 1 goal and giving 3 assists. Last season, he played 44 games with Ajax, scoring 17 goals and recording 15 assists. It seems his best is yet to come at the Parc des Princes.
