Barcelona will complain to UEFA over an unexpected reason after their 4-2 loss to PSG: the Halloween-themed tifo displayed before the match.

PSG impressively defeated Barcelona 4-2 on Tuesday in Matchday 3 of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League. After the defeat, the Catalan side appears to have filed a complaint with UEFA for a rather unexpected reason.

As it turns out, Barcelona was unhappy with the Halloween-themed tifo displayed by the Collectif Ultras Paris before the match.

Barcelona arrived at the Parc des Princes full of confidence after winning all 11 of its matches since the start of the season. However, Lamine Yamal and his teammates left Paris with their heads down after a predictable 4-2 defeat to the reigning back-to-back European champions.

After the match, the Spanish club didn't protest the result, and, curiously, few fans made excuses for the defeat on social media, as it was generally a fantastic game. However, they did protest something rather unexpected.

The Catalan club's board was unhappy with the tifo the Collectif Ultras Paris displayed before kickoff. The gigantic display, titled "Parisian Massacre" in reference to the horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, featured the protagonist of the movie wearing PSG colors and destroying Barcelona's crest with a chainsaw.

According to Spanish news agency EFE, Barcelona will file a complaint with UEFA because the club considers the tifo completely inappropriate. Catalan outlet La Vanguardia also reports that Barça removed banners with offensive messages directed at the club before the match.

It remains to be seen how UEFA will handle the situation just days before Halloween. PSG could therefore face a fine or even a partial stadium closure affecting the ultras' stand. However, that will depend on whether UEFA shares Barcelona's view of the tifo. According to L'Équipe, PSG approved the display before the match.

The context here is clearly different. In Spain, especially at stadiums like Camp Nou and the Santiago Bernabéu, the atmosphere is almost Disney-like. It is family-friendly, peaceful, and pleasant.

That doesn't mean families cannot enjoy matches at the Parc des Princes, but the atmosphere in the ultras' stand is well known for being intense and having that kind of edge. That is why, whenever Paris Saint-Germain plays away from home, the Parisian ultras' chants are often louder than the home supporters'.

The atmosphere in this stand is incredibly intense, so it's surprising that even the Catalan club's board is unaccustomed to such an environment, to the point of filing a complaint.

At some point, it seems strange to stop talking about sports and football and start talking about hurt feelings. It is ridiculous, but we'll have to wait and see what UEFA says.
