In the closing match of the 21st Ligue 1 matchday, PSG hosted Olympique de Marseille at the Parc des Princes for the third and final Le Classique of the season.
In a match they completely dominated, the capital's club outclassed the Marseille side thanks to a brace from Ousmane Dembele, an own goal by Medina, a goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and one from Kang-in Lee.
With this very wide victory (5-0), PSG retakes the lead of Ligue 1 and opens a twelve-point lead over its opponent of the night. Speaking to Ligue 1 +, Ousmane Dembele, named man of the match, reflected on this magnificent victory.
Ousmane Dembele Sends Strong Message After PSG's 5-0 Win Over Marseille
"We know it's a special match for all Parisians, especially for the supporters. We were determined to have a great match and also to send a message to just about everyone. We are back, and in this second half of the season, we will do everything to win titles."
The first flashpoint in the match came when Mayulu was very strangely fouled outside the box. The referee said play on, and Vitinha tackled Balerdi hard on the counter; he was cautioned in the 9th minute. The Argentine was treated, and the Portuguese got off very lightly. PSG opened the scoring on the following play. Doue dropped deep and released Nuno Mendes in behind, who then passed to Dembele to score into the empty net for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
PSG doubled the lead through Dembele, the author of an absolutely brilliant move. He was found on the right, eliminated Balerdi, left Medina for dead with a shot fake, and then found the top corner with power to make it 2-0 in the 37th minute.
