Ousmane Dembele's nerve issue subsides, clearing his path for a crucial return as PSG prepares to face Chelsea.

Hit in the left calf on Feb. 17 against Monaco and absent since, Ousmane Dembele could well return to the squad this Friday against... Monaco before facing Chelsea next Wednesday in the Champions League.

If Fabian Ruiz still has pain in his left knee and will certainly miss PSG's next two matches against Monaco, this Friday night in Ligue 1, and then Chelsea, next Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, Luis Enrique could well recover several major players for his team's next two matches.

PSG returns to training this Wednesday. After nearly three days of rest, it will be interesting to see if Ousmane Dembele, Senny Mayulu, and Joao Neves will be present. The first two have already resumed individual training at the end of last week, while the Portuguese midfielder was receiving treatment after being hit in the left ankle during the return playoff against Monaco.

For the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner, the latest news is rather reassuring. Hit in the left calf on Feb. 17 during the first leg playoff against Monaco, Dembele does not suffer from a muscle lesion, but from discomfort related to a nerve problem. Tuesday night, on the show L'Equipe de Greg, Loic Tanzi provided an update on his health and was optimistic about Dembele's return against Monaco this Friday.

"The trend for PSG vs. Chelsea is rather positive, even very positive," confided the sports daily's journalist. "I'm using conditional, even if I think he will play, but he could return against Monaco as early as Friday in Ligue 1 to get some playing time and then be available to hopefully start against Chelsea."

Barring a relapse or bad sensations by then, Dembele should therefore be on deck for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against the Blues in exactly one week now. As a starter or substitute? "If he gets playing time against Monaco, if he feels good, he will want to play against Chelsea. After that, it will be up to Luis Enrique to decide, but he will be in the squad to start," estimates Tanzi.

Today's training at the PSG Campus should provide the first element of the response regarding the possible return of Dembele against Monaco on Friday. Luis Enrique will be present this Thursday in a press conference and will necessarily speak on the Dembele case. PSG will normally have communicated its new medical update a few minutes earlier.
