PSG draws 2-2 with Lorient after heavy rotation. Renato Marin debuts, Warren Zaïre-Emery scores 44 seconds after coming on. Focus now on Bayern.
PSG hosted Lorient on Saturday at the Parc des Princes in a Ligue 1 matchday 32, four days before the return leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Bayern Munich.
Head coach Luis Enrique, as expected, fielded an alternative lineup. Renato Marin made his debut in the French league, starting the game. Matvey Safonov rested, and Lucas Chevalier is injured. The defense was composed of Lucas Beraldo, Willian Pacho, and Lucas Hernandez.
The midfield was made up of Lee Kang-In, Senny Mayulu, Fabian Ruiz and Dro Fernandez, while the attack was led by Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye.
The scoring opened just in the 6th minute, with a goal from 18-year-old Mbaye. Just six minutes later, Pablo Pagis tied the match.
In the 62nd minute, Warren Zaïre-Emery did something impressive. He came on, and 44 seconds after entering the field of play, he scored a goal to give PSG the lead.
Right at the 62nd minute, both Zaïre-Emery and Joao Neves came on, replacing Mbaye and Ruiz, respectively.
A little more than 10 minutes later (75th minute), forward Pierre Mounguengue, 18, made his Ligue 1 debut, replacing Doue.
Mounguengue made a mistake under opponent pressure in the 78th minute. He looked for Beraldo with a safe pass, but the ball was too long for the Brazilian, and Aiyegun Tosin took advantage, faced Marin, and did not miss, making the score 2-2.
Before the substitutions, there were barely any noticeable automatisms. After the 70th minute, things changed, for the better for PSG. The problem of heavily rotating your squad was evident, just as it was against Lyon (1-2).
Parisians thus get a draw that will add nervousness in the final race for the Ligue 1 title. Now, the focus is on Wednesday's game against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Which, by the way, the Bavarians also drew on Saturday in the Bundesliga, 3-3 against Heidenheim.
Despite the result, it is clear that PSG is ready to face Bayern, considering that multiple starting players rested this weekend and will be fresh against the Germans.
