PSG and Manchester United will face each other in Sweden, according to reports.
With numerous PSG internationals set to compete in the World Cup this summer, with the final scheduled for July 19, the club has already planned a major friendly match on Aug. 8, according to the English media.
The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be another very busy one for PSG players, as most will participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will begin June 11 and conclude July 19 in New York.
Obviously, not all Paris players will reach the final or the semifinals (July 14-15), but the club's numerous French and Portuguese players can hope to go deep in the competition, which will inevitably impact the club's preseason preparation.
Players are required to have at least three weeks off before returning to their clubs for the new season, and those who play on July 19 will therefore be on vacation until at least Sunday, Aug. 9. For them, preseason will again be fairly minimal and conducted separately from the main group initially -- which has not stopped PSG from scheduling friendly matches this year.
A PSG-Manchester United Friendly Planned in Sweden
According to The Athletic, PSG has planned to face Manchester United on Saturday, Aug. 8, in a friendly in Gothenburg, Sweden.
A high-profile friendly against the Premier League's third-place side that is yet to be confirmed and could be played just four days before the UEFA Super Cup scheduled for Aug. 12 -- a match that could once again involve PSG this year if they win the Champions League.
Another August match that could involve PSG is the Trophee des Champions, whose date has been set by the LFP for Saturday, Aug. 15, though it could also be played the following day.
After participating in the Club World Cup last summer and playing the final against Chelsea on July 13, PSG players had a little over three weeks off before returning to training on Wednesday, Aug. 6, with a personalized program starting as early as July 28.
Another Busy Summer Ahead for PSG Players
PSG did not play any friendly matches last summer and launched its 2025-26 season directly with the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, Aug. 13, winning on penalty kicks against Tottenham. Four days later, PSG traveled to Nantes to open its Ligue 1 season and won 1-0, then five days later, followed up with a 1-0 home victory against Angers.
During the summer of 2024 -- marked by the European Championship, the Copa America, and the Olympics -- PSG played two friendly matches against Sturm Graz (Aug. 7) and Leipzig (Aug. 10) before launching its season with a 4-1 victory at Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024.
