Goncalo Ramos is likely to leave PSG this summer. Aston Villa joins Juventus and Milan in the race for the $71M Portuguese forward.
Goncalo Ramos is likely to leave PSG this summer after long months spent on the bench. The Portuguese striker interests many clubs, notably in Italy. But Aston Villa could also take the prize.
It is difficult to go from being a key player at Benfica to a mere substitute at Paris Saint-Germain. Since his arrival in France in 2023, Ramos, 24, has been disillusioned.
The Portuguese striker had achieved the feat of putting Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench for the national team at the 2022 World Cup.
But Luis Enrique quickly meted out the same fate to him in Paris. The Spanish coach does not consider Ramos a credible starter at No. 9. He prefers Ousmane Dembele, even though he is a winger by training. A luxury substitute at PSG, the player who cost $71 million now wants a change of scenery in the transfer window.
The Portuguese striker is pressuring his agent, Jorge Mendes, to sound out various European clubs. The initial contacts were Italian with Juventus and AC Milan.
But these two teams have somewhat limited purchasing power, while PSG wants to recoup a large part of its investment. Aston Villa could take advantage, according to information from the site Transferfeed. The English club is considered a highly credible transfer option.
Unai Emery's team is on the verge of securing its place in the Champions League next season. It already recovered a Parisian last year in the form of Marco Asensio, loaned by PSG in January 2025.
Above all, Aston Villa has a player highly coveted by Luis Campos in Morgan Rogers. An exchange between the two players is entirely possible, subject to certain financial conditions, of course. This would then offer Ramos a fresh start.
