In a big revelation, it is now being reported that PSG have joined the race to sign one of the most in demand youngsters in all of world football at the moment

Although this was not demonstrated in the defeat to Lyon on Sunday evening, PSG have some of the strongest squad depth in world football.

If we cast our minds back to last season's UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan in Munich, we saw Bradley Barcola, Lucas Hernandez, Senny Mayulu, Warren Zaire-Emery and Goncalo Ramos come off the bench. Serviceable players such as Kang-in Lee and Ibrahim Mbaye were unused subs on the night.

So, it is clear that there is a very strong strength in numbers. However, you can never stop improving your squad; you can always make it even better than before.

Well, it appears PSG are trying to do just that. Indeed, according to German media via GFFN, the Parisians are "one of the front runners" to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this summer.

The report states that PSG has already held a meeting with the players' agents. It is also said that the German outfit is set to command a fee of around 100 million Euros for the teenager.

Last summer, Leipzig signed Diomande from Spanish side Leganes, paying around 20 million Euros despite having played just 550 minutes of professional football. Well, what a bargain it has proved to be.

Since moving to the Bundesliga, the winger has scored 12 goals, provided six assists and created 13 big chances in just 2137 league minutes, the equivalent of a little under 24 full games of football. He also scored and assisted in the DFB Pokal.

At the international level, Diomande made his Ivory Coast debut in October, scoring in a World Cup qualifier. This was followed up by another qualifying goal four days later, as he helped his nation to their first World Cup since 2014. He also scored once at AFCON, bringing his tally to 16 goals across all competitions for club and country.

Aside from his productivity, the Ivorian is an extremely dynamic player. In the Bundesliga this season, he has completed 3.5 dribbles per game, which is the highest among all players in Europe's top five leagues, beaten only by Lamine Yamal.

To go back to the earlier point, PSG has very good depth. On the wings alone, they have Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, Barcola, and Mbaye. Do they need a fifth option?

Well, it wouldn't do any harm. Luis Enrique's side certainly wouldn't get any worse for having Diomande in the side. However, would he accept a move if he doesn't think he will get the necessary game time?

The report also mentions that Liverpool is very interested in the player. Although they are a worse side than PSG, he would certainly get much, much more game time there.

We all know that strong World Cup tournaments can drive up a player's price. So, if any deal is to be done, the club would be well-advised to wrap it up as soon as possible.
