PSG legend Javier Pastore urges Bradley Barcola to stay, emphasizing the risks of chasing a move to England.
Bradley Barcola, coveted by English clubs, should not leave PSG this summer, as he is an important figure in Luis Enrique's side.
Four players for three spots -- that is the situation in PSG's attack. A small logjam that is not easy to resolve, even if it is rare to see all of the offensive players available at the same time for Luis Enrique.
But when that is the case and a big match is on the line, Barcola, 23, has been the one chosen to start on the bench a little too often. And that is despite a fine season, improvements in his finishing, and strong physical form outside of his recent injury.
This situation appears to be weighing on the former Lyon man's desires, as he knows he is being courted by half of the big Premier League clubs. A departure cannot be ruled out, even if he knows he risks leaving a very ambitious and high-quality squad, and that he is not certain to find the same elsewhere.
A former PSG star, and even the first marquee signing at the club after Qatar's takeover, Javier Pastore, is now a player agent.
He represents, among others, Enzo Fernandez. And in a few words exchanged with Top Mercato, he took the liberty of advising Barcola, above all, not to leave PSG this summer, or risk regretting it.
"Barcola is still very young; he gets a lot of playing time at Paris and with the national team. He is in competition with three great players, very good ones too, [Ousmane] Dembele, [Desire] Doue, and [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia. There are four of them for two or three spots, so there is always one left on the sideline."
"If I were his agent, I would tell him to be patient, to think carefully, because he is at one of the best clubs in the world, where he is very important. Barcola is a super important player for the club and must prove it when given the opportunity. Last season he was important, this season too," said Pastore, offering a piece of wise advice to the Parisian forward.
It remains to be seen whether it will be heeded or whether the temptation of a better role at a big English club will push him to leave PSG.
