Vinicius Jr.'s contract standstill sparks a European scramble as PSG, Manchester United, and Liverpool explore a summer transfer.
In form since Alvaro Arbeloa's appointment to the Real Madrid bench, Vinicius Jr. has not yet extended his contract, which expires in June 2027. This could be an opportunity for PSG, per reports.
Where will Vinicius Junior play next season? That is a question no one has the answer to yet, not even the player himself, nor Florentino Perez. Indeed, the Brazilian will soon enter the final year of his contract, which expires in June 2027.
In great difficulty at the start of the season, the 25-year-old winger has regained his form since the departure of Xabi Alonso and the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa. Decisive against Manchester City with a brilliant personal performance in the two-legged matchup, Vinicius is still in negotiations for a possible extension. But while no agreement has been reached yet, his agent is conducting a logical test of the European market.
Journalist Ekrem Konur reports that Vinicius Jr.'s representatives have contacted Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, to gauge interest and assess whether a transfer to one of these big European clubs is feasible.
The reason for this approach? Negotiations for Vini's extension at Real Madrid have been "at a standstill" for several weeks. Saudi Arabia is still ready to act if the opportunity arises, according to Konur.
For now, it is unknown what response Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave to Vinicius and his entourage. The Brazilian no longer really seems to fit into PSG's recruitment policy, which now prioritizes players who have not yet broken out at the highest level and whose market value generally does not exceed 50 million euros.
It is difficult to predict what choice Paris Saint-Germain will make regarding Vinicius, who has at least proven in recent weeks that he is once again among the world's best players.
