PSG is reportedly eyeing Eduardo Camavinga amid Real Madrid's midfield overhaul.
The future of French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and Paris Saint-Germain once again was the subject of discussion in the pro-Real Madrid media on Sunday.
It is one of the biggest stories in Spain right now: what does the future hold for Eduardo Camavinga? In Madrid, there appears to be growing frustration with the French midfielder, who is among the most criticized players in public opinion this season. Against Mallorca on Saturday -- in the defeat (2-1) that virtually ends their title hopes -- the player developed at Stade Rennais once again turned in a poor performance.
The commentary is devastating for the Frenchman. "He makes every action worse when the ball passes through his feet. Very little composure on the ball and an alarming lack of precision in his distribution and combinations," Marca wrote, for example, giving him a 4 out of 10 for his performance. And analyses of that kind number in the dozens across the Iberian press this weekend.
AS goes in the same direction: "He is earning himself a ticket out of Real Madrid's starting lineup with performances like the one at Son Moix. He increasingly has the look of a substitute." But most importantly, the outlet once again mentions a strong interest from PSG in his services -- already reported last week. PSG is indeed closely monitoring his situation, the newspaper reports. Most significantly, AS now reports that Real Madrid is clearly open to selling the player, who is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2029.
For its part, Defensa Central indicates that Camavinga's level highlights the need to recruit in midfield, and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea could well come in to take his place. Evidence that in Madrid, they are beginning to plan next season without Eduardo Camavinga, who had cost around 30 million euros in 2021. If PSG decides to make a move, they will still have to brace for complicated negotiations with their Madrid counterparts, as the relationship between the two clubs is particularly difficult.
