Fabian Ruiz is reportedly eyeing a return to Spain as PSG contract talks stall. Atletico Madrid could prepare a €30 million bid.
Announced as very close to an extension, Fabian Ruiz is struggling to return from his injury and is increasingly tempted by a return to Spain. Atletico Madrid has jumped at the opportunity.
Less valuable and less present this season, Ruiz, 30, is nevertheless reported to be very close to a contract extension. But PSG likes to maintain suspense regarding discussions with its players, and that also plays into the hands of the papers.
In Spain, it is claimed that the Parisian number eight is increasingly considering packing his bags and returning home. Not to play for Betis, his beloved club, but to sign for Atletico Madrid, which has been making eyes at him for several years now.
With still one year left on his contract, the midfielder is a target at a reasonable amount for the Mattress Makers, especially since the player has passed the age of 30.
According to El Nacional, everything is falling into place for his arrival next summer at Atletico, thanks to Diego Simeone's push to bring him in. The club in the Spanish capital is convinced that a €30 million offer would be enough to crack PSG.
Especially since the trend has reversed in recent weeks, and the emergence of Warren Zaire-Emery in midfield has made Fabian Ruiz's presence less essential than expected. Above all, the player somewhat irritated his management by taking it easy for weeks before arriving in form at the World Cup, with his PSG injury deemed unconvincing over time.
The Spanish press claims that no extension has been signed, even though there have been conflicting reports from Paris, where it is believed that Ruiz has already signed a new contract. But between the player's desire to return to Spain and the possibility of having a contract at a still ambitious club before finishing his career at Betis Sevilla, there is enough to tip the scales toward a departure.
This is knowing that PSG has always made it known that it would not hold back against its players who truly ask to leave the club in the transfer window.
