A key PSG attacker is reportedly sidelined for the Liverpool clash. His absence, obviously, raises concerns as a crucial Champions League quarterfinal looms.
PSG hosts Liverpool at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night in the Champions League quarterfinal. The French capital club prefers to do without the services of Bradley Barcola.
Paris Saint-Germain will be favored in the Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool. But even if the Reds are not going through their best period, they remain an opponent to be respected, at risk of a huge disappointment.
Every detail will count, and Luis Enrique will once again have to manage absences within his squad. While doubt remains about the availability of Fabian Ruiz, there is no longer any suspense for Bradley Barcola.
Not yet back to full team training: he is already ruled out for the first leg against Liverpool.
Before the international break, the PSG star was seriously injured during the trip to Chelsea in the Champions League. In recent days, the former Lyon player was recovering well and had returned to training. But it will be too tight for him to be available for the home match against Liverpool on Wednesday night.
That is at least what the well-informed X account, Djamel, indicates, which specifies that Barcola, 23, has indeed resumed work indoors and individual running, but that he will certainly be sidelined to face the Reds in the first leg.
For those who do not have the context, Djamel is not just any social media account, but rather the most reliable insider around PSG, very popular, especially in France.
A return remains possible for the second leg for Barcola. PSG does not want to take any risks with a rushed return for the French international. And despite the importance of the match, no doubt the former Lyon player will also appreciate not putting himself in danger two months before the World Cup.
Luis Enrique will have other options and, fortunately for him, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are in top form. They will have to give everything to get PSG off to the best possible start before the trip to Anfield. Always a special match in a mythical stadium that will push for its team. Paris, however, has good memories there, after securing qualification for the Champions League quarterfinal last season following a thrilling penalty shootout.
