Key players return, but strategic rests and absences shape anticipated lineups for the crucial PSG vs. Monaco clash.

On the eve of the PSG vs. Monaco match in the 25th round of Ligue 1, this Friday, it is already possible to predict the two teams' lineups. Luis Enrique should recover several important players, but could make some choices with a view to PSG vs. Chelsea next Wednesday.

Leader of Ligue 1 with a 4-point lead over Lens, PSG hosts AS Monaco this Friday night in the opening of the 25th round of Ligue 1. A match placed five days before the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Chelsea and nine days after the 2-2 draw between Parisians and Monégasques at the Parc des Princes in the return playoff.

AS Monaco, 7th, 20 points behind PSG, won 2-0 against Angers last Saturday and has just strung together six matches without defeat in Ligue 1 before traveling to Paris this Friday night. For this match, Luis Enrique will recover Ousmane Dembele and Senny Mayulu, but there is little chance they will start against Monaco. Joao Neves is out, as are Fabian Ruiz and Quentin Ndjantou.

In goal, no surprise in sight, Matvey Safonov should string together a 9th consecutive start and protect a four-man defense composed from right to left of Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Lucas Beraldo, and Nuno Mendes. We can indeed see Luis Enrique taking advantage of this match to rest Willian Pacho and relaunch Beraldo, even if a new start for the Ecuadorian is not to be excluded.

In midfield, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, and Quentin Ndjantou are therefore still absent, while Senny Mayulu returns from injury and will probably be a little short to start the match. So we bet on a trio composed of the tireless Warren Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha, and Dro Fernandez, but we cannot rule out a start for Lee Kang-in either.

Finally, in attack, Ousmane Dembele should probably come on during the match, but not start, and we could again have Bradley Barcola up front, as at Le Havre. On the sides, we count on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left and Desire Doue on the right.

PSG's predicted lineup vs. Monaco: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos (c), Beraldo (or Pacho), Mendes; Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha, Dro (or Lee); Doue, Barcola, Kvaratskhelia.

On the AS Monaco side, Sebastien Pocognoli is still without his long-term injured and has three uncertain players on the eve of the match, as he announced Wednesday in a press conference: "We have three uncertain players, with Mika (Biereth) who was sick today, Zak' (Denis Zakaria) who was in the room as a precaution related to his old injury as well as Jordan (Teze) whom we had to relieve. We'll see tomorrow (this Thursday), they remain question marks for the next match, but we hope they will be present."

Compared to the last match between the two teams at the Parc des Princes, Aleksandr Golovin is available and could, numerically, replace Mamadou Coulibaly, though in a more offensive role. It would not be surprising if Monaco presents itself this Friday in Paris with a lineup quite close to the one that held PSG to a draw last week.

Scorer at the Parc and rested immediately after against Angers, Maghnes Akliouche is fit and should still start the match this Friday night.

Monaco's predicted lineup vs. PSG: Köhn; Kehrer, Zakaria (c), Faes; Vanderson, Bamba, Camara, Caio Henrique; Golovin, Balogun, Akliouche.
