With a huge victory away from home in Ligue 1, let's take a look at the key tactical decisions Luis Enrique made to help PSG pull off this big win on the road.

On Saturday night, PSG signed off for the March international break in the best possible way, with a resounding 4-0 victory against Nice away from home.

With some key player absences, Luis Enrique had to make some tactical adjustments - so what did he do?

At right-back, with Achraf Hakimi suspended, Warren Zaire-Emery was used there, certainly not for the first time under the Spaniard. With the way the manager uses his full-backs, the recently turned 20-year-old is quite a good fit there.

This proved once again with Zaire-Emery scoring, having another opportunity to do so inside the box, and having 87 touches of the ball. He looks very comfortable in that position.

Perhaps the biggest talking point of the game was playing Nuno Mendes on the left wing for this game, with Lucas Hernandez behind him as the left-back.

This is not the first time we have seen this - Enrique has often brought Hernandez on as a nominal forward during a game and moved Mendes further forward, particularly in Champions League games, but seeing it from the start was interesting.

You can't say it didn't work, either. The Portugal international scored (albeit on a penalty), assisted, and still helped the team out defensively, ensuring the clean sheet.

Interestingly, when Senny Mayulu was forced off in the first half, with Joao Neves suspended, Zaire-Emery at right-back, and Fabian Ruiz injured, Enrique turned to a surprise name in central defence, Lucas Beraldo, to play in midfield.

This was despite having Marquinhos on the bench, who has played in midfield multiple times for PSG over the years, most notably in the run to the UEFA Champions League final back in 2020. There was also Dro Fernandez, who came on later, on the bench.

There would have been PSG fans wincing at the idea of a backup defender playing in midfield in such an important game, and the clash firmly in the balance at that point, but Beraldo certainly held his own and was praised by Enrique for his performance after the game.

A great day all round. PSG were without four crucial players, three of whom started the Champions League final, and Bradley Barcola, who is also an absolutely sublime player, and yet they were able to come away with such a big win.

Not only that, but it could have been even more. The European champions had eight big chances and more than 4xG throughout the 90 minutes. Again, a great way to sign off for the international break. Fingers crossed for no injuries over the next week or so.
