PSG are close to signing Ferran Torres for €50M. Barcelona expects the deal to be completed before Aug. 12, as the forward wants a move to Paris.
The last few hours have shown clear progress in the talks between FC Barcelona and PSG for Ferran Torres. According to Marca, confirmed by L'Equipe, the only scorer in the World Cup final will very soon be a PSG player.
Active in the transfer market since the start of the window, PSG are now stepping up in their pursuit of summer reinforcements.
Making headlines for several weeks, the Torres saga is apparently nearing its end, with a happy outcome for the capital club. Looking for a versatile forward, particularly after the departure of Goncalo Ramos (AC Milan), the Paris club is said to be on the verge of signing Torres, with whom it is already believed to have an agreement.
That is what Marca are reporting and what L’Equipe, Le Parisien and other media are confirming. PSG and Torres, 26, are said to have found common ground. One detail, however, differs between the two papers' versions.
The Spanish outlet is talking about a four-year contract in Paris, while the French daily is mentioning a five-season deal for the 2026 World Cup winner. The length of his deal therefore still needs to be clarified, while his desire to join PSG is clear. Marca writes that the player’s camp has told Barca that his wish now is to join Paris.
“In football, you never know,” Torres said a few weeks ago when he was asked if he would still be a Barca player in 2026-27. Everything suggests that he will instead be wearing PSG colours. Luis Campos and Deco, the sporting directors of the two clubs, are said to be continuing talks, and the negotiations over the price of the deal are taking shape. FC Barcelona are thought to be expecting around €50 million for their top scorer in La Liga last season. An amount that should not put PSG off, having just signed Maghnes Akliouche for the same sum.
The Catalan club expect the transfer to be wrapped up very soon. Still, according to Marca, Barca would like to sell Torres before Wednesday, Aug. 12, the date when the Spain world champions return to Joan Gamper. Asked about this in a press conference Saturday, Hansi Flick said he “was not aware of anything about this situation.” The saga nevertheless seems very close to its conclusion.
PSG have secured the signatures of goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni and Maghnes Akliouche. But Luis Enrique is reportedly still waiting for the arrivals of a centre-forward, a winger, and a defender capable of playing on the right and at centre-back.
Luis Campos is on it. The sporting advisor refuses to rush in order to avoid overpaying for reinforcements. Except that the length of the talks is starting to annoy Enrique, per reports. Let's see if PSG can secure Torres' signing sooner rather than later.
