PSG is among the clubs interested in Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel, 15. The young striker has reportedly asked to leave and will turn 16 on Oct. 6.
PSG continues to closely monitor young European talents. This time, Paris has set its sights on JJ Gabriel, a 15-year-old striker widely regarded as one of Manchester United's brightest prospects.
The young Englishman reportedly does not wish to continue his time with his boyhood club and has asked to be released.
Manchester United refused Gabriel's request, and he reportedly had no intention of signing his first professional contract with them either. This situation quickly attracted the attention of several European giants.
According to the Spanish media outlet Sport, PSG is among the interested clubs, along with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
Paris Saint-Germain is apparently no longer content to simply monitor the situation. According to Sport, PSG's management has already expressed its interest to agent Ali Barat, who represents JJ Gabriel. The Parisian club is reportedly ready to make an offer if the player is receptive to the project. No French media outlet has confirmed this information yet.
Competition remains fierce, with Sport currently placing PSG among four main contenders alongside Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. The Catalan club has publicly denied rumors of interest in the youngster. Gabriel will celebrate his 16th birthday on October 6th, an important date for his future.
The young striker already had a first taste of top-level football this summer with Manchester United, becoming the club's youngest-ever player to participate in a friendly match against Atlético Madrid. He did not play against PSG in Sweden.
Frankly, when it comes to developing talent and providing the right environment, Barcelona and PSG stand out more than the rest.
The Parisian club has had successful cases such as Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes, all of whom arrived at similar ages, between 19 and 21.
Another example is academy graduate Warren Zaïre-Emery, now a key piece in Luis Enrique’s system in both midfield and defense, who began playing a prominent role at the club at 16, while Christophe Galtier was still in charge.
Senny Mayulu and Dro Fernández are another pair of examples of players who regularly get important minutes with the Parisian club, despite not being the stars who receive most of the attention.
Barcelona also has a strong ability to develop young talent, with the clearest examples currently being Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí. However, other young players have also gradually gained prominence at the club in recent years and months, including Gerard Martín and Xavi Espart.
