Luis Enrique wants PSG to sign Sporting's Ousmane Diomande to strengthen the defense, per reports. Newcastle, AC Milan and Crystal Palace also interested.

The Ligue 1 season has just ended, and PSG manager Luis Enrique has already set his transfer priorities. With Illya Zabarnyi failing to deliver, the French capital club has found the ideal candidate in Sporting's Ousmane Diomande.

On the offensive side, PSG is a big machine and has the means to achieve its ambitions, but in the defensive sector, the capital club still has things to sort out.

During the 2025 transfer window, Luis Campos went to sign Zabarnyi from Bournemouth, with the idea that the Ukrainian international would succeed Marquinhos. Things did not go as planned.

So, the BBC reveals that Luis Enrique has asked the Parisian transfer chief to try to bring in Diomande, 22, the powerful Ivorian international central defender from Sporting.

The 6-foot-2 player has shown at the Portuguese club that he has Champions League-level potential, and PSG is set to work immediately to bring him in this summer.

To take the lead and respond favorably to Luis Enrique's request, who particularly appreciates the Sporting defender, Campos has already contacted Diomande's representatives to find out whether he is interested.

Last January, the native of Abidjan extended his contract with the Lisbon club until 2030, so it will be necessary to negotiate with both the defender and the club.

According to the English outlet, the operation could be around $55 million, knowing that Diomande is valued at $49 million by Transfermarkt. Although PSG has reportedly already advanced in the process of signing the Ivorian defender, other clubs are also closely monitoring his situation.

AC Milan, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle could also compete with the reigning European champions in this transfer race.

Campos had specified after PSG's victory at Lens last Wednesday that, for now, until the Champions League final, all transfer-window cases are set aside.

But the PSG sporting director probably still has a very close eye on Diomande, since Luis Enrique has made him an absolute priority for the next transfer window. And Campos knows it; he must not disappoint the Spanish coach.
