PSG is reportedly interested in Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan, 17. His pre-agreement with Manchester City could be jeopardized by the club's 115 charges.
Cavan Sullivan is one of the most promising players in world football. PSG is reportedly showing strong interest in the Philadelphia Union midfielder in MLS.
Paris Saint-Germain is always looking for young talent to bolster its squad. The Parisian club is reportedly in the running for a young American midfielder, 17, who can also play on either wing: Cavan Sullivan.
He is currently shining with the Philadelphia Union, an MLS franchise (7 goals and 5 assists in 24 matches). A professional since age fourteen, he is attracting interest from Europe's biggest clubs. Although he reached a pre-agreement with Manchester City for a move in 2028, when he turns 18, this could be jeopardized.
Manchester City Has a Preliminary Agreement but…
Indeed, according to Sport, the verdict in the 115 charges and the sanctions hanging over the English club have created legal uncertainty surrounding the transfer.
This turn of events could benefit FC Barcelona and PSG, who are reportedly monitoring Cavan Sullivan, according to the Spanish sports outlet. Real Madrid is also reportedly watching the situation closely.
All three clubs hope to secure a lucrative deal for one of the most promising young players if his pre-signed contract with Manchester City is canceled.
PSG and Barcelona Should Compete With Manchester City
When it comes to developing talent and providing the right environment, Barcelona and PSG stand out more than the rest.
The Parisian club has had successful cases such as Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes, all of whom arrived at similar ages, between 19 and 21.
Another example is academy graduate Warren Zaïre-Emery, now a key piece in Luis Enrique’s system in both midfield and defense, who began playing a prominent role at the club at 16, while Christophe Galtier was still in charge.
Senny Mayulu and Dro Fernández are another pair of examples of players who regularly get important minutes with the Parisian club, despite not being the stars who receive most of the attention.
Barcelona also has a strong ability to develop young talent, with the clearest examples currently being Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí. However, other young players have also gradually gained prominence at the club in recent years and months, including Gerard Martín and Xavi Espart.
Real Madrid, for its part, has some bad examples in recent history, such as Endrick, who seems never to have liked any coach he worked with, or Franco Mastantuono, who went out on loan to Fiorentina.
