PSG's pursuit of Yan Diomande is complicated by a legal dispute between two agencies, per reports. The RB Leipzig winger has agreed personal terms but the deal is now at risk.
Even though the player has had an agreement with PSG for several weeks, Yan Diomande's move from RB Leipzig to the French champions has made little progress. Some sources are even suggesting the deal could collapse.
Now on vacation following Ivory Coast's Round of 32 elimination at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande still does not know where he will be playing next season. The 19-year-old wants to leave the Bundesliga club this summer and has already reached an agreement with PSG on a five-year contract several weeks ago.
However, RB Leipzig have no intention of letting him leave, as shown by their rejection of Liverpool's €100 million offer. Ideally, the German club would like to extend Diomande's contract with improved terms while including a release clause for next summer. But that stance has not discouraged interested clubs.
As PSG insider Djamel reported on X on Tuesday, the French club are still trying to complete the complicated deal. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly continuing negotiations with Oliver Mintzlaff, the head of Red Bull's sports division and the executive above RB Leipzig's management. PSG are naturally trying to lower the asking price, with German media reporting Leipzig want between €130 million and €150 million to sell the winger.
But even if PSG and RB Leipzig eventually reach an agreement, there is no guarantee the transfer can be completed.
Diomande is at the center of a legal dispute between two player agencies. In recent months, the Ivory Coast international signed a representation agreement with Roc Nation, the agency that also represents Vinicius Junior and several other high-profile players.
However, his previous contract with Maxidel remains an issue. The agency still claims to represent the player, while Diomande disputes that claim. The case is set to be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, leaving the winger effectively represented by two agencies at the same time -- a highly problematic situation for any transfer this summer.
The issue has become so serious that Ivorian journalist Malick Traore, who closely follows the national team, has even claimed PSG have abandoned plans to sign Diomande this summer because the situation has become too complicated.
As Traore explained several days ago, the dual representation has created an unusual scenario, with each agency negotiating separately with different clubs: Maxidel has been in talks with Liverpool and Bayern Munich, while Roc Nation has been handling discussions with PSG. That could also explain reports suggesting the player has not committed exclusively to PSG.
If Diomande is to join PSG this summer, patience will likely be required while the player and the clubs work through the many obstacles standing in the way of the transfer.
