PSG contract talks for Senny Mayulu hit a snag, with leaks and alleged club pressure creating tension.
Senny Mayulu, who scored Tuesday night at Chelsea, has not yet extended his contract with PSG, which expires in 2027. And according to L'Equipe, the young midfielder struggled with leaks to the press about his financial demands.
A pure product of the PSG youth academy, Senny Mayulu will never forget May 31, 2025, and his goal in the Champions League final. Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge, the young Parisian midfielder came off the bench at halftime and scored his team's third goal with a magnificent left-footed strike. His very demonstrative celebration was a pleasure to see and stood in contrast to his usual, rather measured attitude.
In its Thursday edition, L'Equipe revisits the negotiations between PSG and its entourage over the extension of its contract, which expires in June 2027. It had leaked in February that Mayulu's camp had already rejected three offers from the club and had very high financial demands. It was even written that Mayulu wanted a salary higher than that of Joao Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery, who earn about 950,000 euros gross per month.
A version categorically denied by the player's entourage on Friday in the pages of L'Equipe. The sports outlet adds that the 19-year-old player struggled in recent weeks with the various negative comments he read and heard about himself, especially since he suspects the club of being behind the leaks.
According to those close to him, Mayulu thus felt he had been "thrown under a bus" by PSG and did not understand why the club put such pressure on him, 16 months before the end of his contract.
With several clubs having inquired about him in recent weeks — which will surprise no one given his talent and age — it is a departure from PSG this summer and is thus well underway. According to L'Equipe, a happy outcome is still possible, although negotiations between the parties have not resumed at this stage.
While waiting for possible developments, Mayulu has decided to focus on the sporting side, with an exciting end-of-season game to play. This season, Mayulu has the 12th-most playing time in the Parisian squad across all competitions (1,792 minutes), and he should still have his say by the end of the season, especially with the physical issues affecting Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves.
