Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the star midfielder in 2026 and as it seems, the player has chosen the club over Bayern for his home next summer.

With the winter transfer window right around the corner, Manchester United are already on the lookout for reinforcements in order to strengthen the squad even after spending over £200 million in transfers during the summer.

The Midfield: Area That Needs Improving

Midfield is one position where the Reds are looking to strengthen as Bruno Fernandes has been their sole provider while recording five assists in the Premier league this season.

It's clear the Man United skipper has provided the club with some inspiring performances in times of need, but now it seems he is being burdened with not only play making, but also has to perform defensive duties alongside Casemiro.

United are being linked with a lot of midfielders currently. Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher being one of them. The former Chelsea man is currently finding life hard in the Spanish capital due to his lack of game time.

Carlos Baleba

But the midfielder currently in focus is Brighton's Carlos Baleba who is reportedly on Manchester United's radar for next season.

The 21-year-old has been on the club management's wishlist since last season after a brilliant 2024/25 campaign. United's legend Roy Keane hailed him as a 'fantastic player', and gave accolades to the young player.

Brighton asked an eye-popping £100 million for the Cameroonian before the start of the current season, which eventually ended United's interest in the player.  According to recent reports, Bayern Munich are also after the Midfielder as they are looking to replace Leon Goretzka.

As reported by Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Brighton have reportedly lowered the asking price to €85 million for Baleba, and the midfielder has chosen Manchester United to be his destination next summer.

Tavolieri reported saying, "Between United and Munich, the player’s heart clearly lies with Old Trafford. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will agree to make another attempt to sign him"

Reports also suggest that the midfielder has agreed on personal terms with the Reds, but his current form is being heavily monitored by the club management. He has failed to register a single goal or assist in this season's Premier league, and the fans are suggesting that Baleba has lost his focus dreaming of his big move to Manchester next summer.

Although a lot depends on the player's form this season,  the Reds might have second thoughts regarding Baleba's signing for such a hefty fee of €85 million.
