Carrick Delivers Strong Warning to Manchester United Ahead of Fulham Match cover image

Carrick urges focus against Fulham. Manchester United's interim boss warns against complacency after stunning wins, eyeing a third consecutive victory.

Michael Carrick has said that if Manchester United underestimates Fulham after its impressive wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, it "would be totally out of order."

Carrick has begun his interim tenure in charge with victories over the Premier League's top two. He seeks a third consecutive win when Fulham visits Old Trafford on Sunday.

And the former United midfielder issued a warning ahead of the match against Marco Silva's team.

"I think the lads are in a good place going into the game," Carrick stated at a news conference on Friday. "It’s a tough game, a tough challenge. I think Marco has made Fulham into a really good team."

"Suddenly, it's a different game, it's Fulham. Just because we're at home, taking anything for granted is totally out of order."

Carrick has been boosted by the return of Joshua Zirkzee, who has returned to training after missing the last two matches with an injury.

Matthijs de Ligt remains out, and Patrick Dorgu will also be absent after suffering a hamstring injury in the 3-2 win over Kairat Almaty at the Emirates.

"Unfortunately, Patrick will be out for a little while," Carrick said. "It's disappointing because he's had a couple of excellent weeks."

"We weren’t sure whether it was a cramp or something a bit more severe, and for now, it looks like something a bit more severe. It will be a few weeks. How many weeks? We’ll see."

Dorgu's injury is a blow to Carrick, especially after the Danish international scored against City and Arsenal.

There are still three days left in the transfer window if United decides to dip into the market to strengthen the squad, and Carrick left the door open for business before Monday's deadline.

"I think we’re just working through it. Never say never, because a lot can happen, and things can get complicated. Sometimes we have it under control, sometimes we don’t. I’m quite relaxed, and we've shown [against City and Arsenal] what we are capable of as a team," he said.
