Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Manchester United player is expected to leave in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The winter transfer window might have come to a close merely a few days back, but there is already some talk about what the summer might have in store for several clubs. It might be a particularly important one for Manchester United, who have looked quite good since Michael Carrick became the club's interim manager, with wins over Man City, Arsenal and Fulham.

Those are impressive results, but to be honest, Manchester United still have a lot of areas in need of improvement if they want to challenge for the top honours in football once again, something they have not done since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement back in 2013.

Making the right signings will be important in order to achieve that. But at the same time, they might need to say goodbye to the right players as well.

One who does not seem to have much of a future at Old Trafford is Andre Onana. Signed from Inter Milan, he never found his feet at Manchester United and was often viewed as a weak link in the team for his disappointing performances between the posts.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Onana, currently on loan at Trabzonspor, is expected to leave Manchester United in the summer. A return to Inter Milan might not be on the cards though.

The Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Who’s going to leave the club? For sure, in the summer, it’s going to be Andre Onana. Because Onana is on loan at Trabzonspor and Man United’s decision is already quite clear.

“Man United are not expected to continue with Onana next summer. So, the idea is to part ways, to find a solution. There were many reports in England about a potential Inter return. I’m not aware about that.

“His agents were in Milan, yes, but his agents are in a powerful agency, working on several deals and they were in Milan for separate topics, not for Inter move."

The best step for Onana would be to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis. It is hard to imagine that he will ever be the number one between the posts for the club again.

A permanent move to Trabzonspor cannot be counted. But financially, it might be a difficult one to pull off for the Turkish club. That being said, we have seen plenty of top players make moves to Turkey in the last few years, so this would not be an impossibility.
