With the January transfer window wide open, Manchester United fans were expecting that the club would bring in new recruits in order to reinforce the squad following their inconsistent run of games during the past couple of months, but ironically, the club management decided to part ways with Ruben Amorin and, as it seems, are on the lookout for his replacement.
Although Amorin's sacking didn't come as a surprise, given the recent poor display put alongside his explosive press conference after the Reds' one-all draw against Leeds this weekend
The club appointed Darren Fletcher as their interim manager for now as they continue their search for a permanent replacement for Amorin.
The likes of Oliver Glasner, Thomas Tuchel, and Xavi are reportedly being considered by the club management to steer the ship at Old Trafford, but another familiar name for the Reds, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, is again making the rounds in the headlines as of late.
According to Transfer Market specialist Fabrizio Romano, the former United Manager is ready help the club at this moment of need, as Romano reported on his YouTube channel, saying, 'Ole Gunnar Solskjær is ready to take over as caretaker manager at Manchester United. He’s told people close to him it’s NOT about the contract, it’s NOT about the money - he would just love to be back at United. That was the message to United.'
Although the board has not yet made a statement regarding Solskjær, he is still considered a manager who knows the club inside out, having had a successful career both as a player and a manager at United.
The Reds reached the FA Cup semi-finals in his second season in charge and also reached the Europa League final a year later. He recorded his best league finish by finishing second in the Premier League in 2020-21 after spending almost three years as United's head coach.
Regardless of all the talk around the club, Fletcher is currently at the helm and is expected to devise a plan for tomorrow's game against Fulham as soon as possible, given the limited options at his disposal with the high number of absentees in the squad
