Martinez reveals the subtle shift in energy and calm Carrick instilled, transforming United's performance and security on the pitch.

Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez analyzed in an interview shared by ESPN how his team changed for the better with the arrival of Michael Carrick as interim coach following the departure of Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim.

The defender considered that with the managerial change, the team transformed. The reason? "The energy changed, it gave us more calm and more security. He is a person who knows the club very well, all the people here, and everyone respects him. He and his assistants have a human side with the player that is very good and very important. He also transmits a lot of security to us."

Following Carrick's arrival, Manchester United beat none other than Manchester City in the derby, and also the leader Arsenal, in what were two quick statements of intent from the former Red Devils midfielder.

"We go calmly, match by match. We know we won two very important matches against very tough rivals. That also shows you that you can compete and that you can do things well. We don't think too much about the future: we think about doing the best we can in the next match, with calm, humility, a lot of commitment, and work. We have to go this way," assured Martinez.

Lisandro Martinez Explains Why Manchester United Improved Under Carrick

Martinez also referred to the confirmed departure of Casemiro when his contract ends and explained what United will lose with the Brazilian's exit.

"His presence on the field is something we will lose: the way he plays football, how he intimidates rivals. He is a very important player who has given a lot to this club, very respected by everyone, and an example for us."

"It is an important year. As a player, you have to adapt and go match by match. It's no use thinking about the future when things are happening now," he stated, trying to lower expectations for the World Cup.

And about the Finalissima in March, between the champion of America and the champion of Europe, he said it will be an extremely tough match.

"They play football very well. It will be a spectacle for everyone: there are two national teams that play well, with good players. We will go prepared as always, match by match, and it will undoubtedly be a great final."
