Manchester United started the season 2025/2026 with the sole goal of returning to Europe and playing in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. For this reason, they invested heavily in the last summer transfer window, bringing in several players to improve the team and finish in the top 4 of the Premier League.

The start of the season under Amorim for the Red Devils was marked by many ups and downs, which is why the club decided to fire the Portuguese coach and hire a former club legend, Michael Carrick. Under his leadership, things seem to have improved for the Red Devils, and they are now inside the top 4. Manchester United are currently third with 51 points, the same as Aston Villa, which is fourth.

The loss to Newcastle was United's first under Carrick.  From the other side, the club is making plans for the upcoming summer transfer market, which is very near. They are watching different options and profiles inside and outside the Premier League.

The Red Devils will continue to invest in experienced players, as well as young, talented ones who can be important to the club today and in the future. This policy will also continue in this transfer market, which is very close.

According to The Telegraph, the club's scouts have been following a young, talented centre-back from nearby Fulham. The Red Devils are very interested in Sam Amissah, a highly talented defender at Fulham.

The 19-year-old defender is part of the Fulham youth team, and his contract expires this summer. Sam is a defender who plays as a centre-back and has strong qualities, such as being very strong in aerial duels, good pace, not being afraid of duels, and knowing how to play with the ball on his feet.

United have brought in several young and talented players over the last couple of years, such as Chido Obi, Diego Leon, and Ayden Heaven, and they intend to make Amissah the latest addition to this list. Sam's natural role is as a centre-back, but he is adaptable and can also play in other roles, such as full-back or defensive midfield.

But at the services of the young and talented defender, Manchester United isn’t the only club interested because other well-known teams of the Premier League, like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City, are following the player.
