Key midfielders could spark a turnaround for Manchester United, offering a vital boost before their Burnley clash.

Manchester United are currently going through a rough patch of games, as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Leeds yesterday, repeating the result from their last game against Wolves the previous week.

Unsurprisingly, fingers would be pointed towards their manager, Ruben Amorin, for the poor run of games, but a manager can only do so much with a number of his first team players unavailable due to injuries, and also Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbuemo, and Noussair Mazraoui representing their respective national sides in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are currently sidelined with Injuries and could return later this month; on the other hand, midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, and Kobbie Mainoo are in recovery

Bruno Fernandes could be available against Burnley

The latest report by Manchester World's Rich Fay suggests that Bruno could be included in the matchday squad alongside Mount for the match against Burnley.

The United captain had to be taken off at half-time during their 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in December and was expected to be out for at least a month.READ MORE: Will Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorin Survive Till Derby Day?As it stands, the news of his early return surely comes as a surprise for many. Earlier, it was expected that Fernandes' understudy, Kobbie Mainoo, could make his return before his captain. That most likely would have handed Mainoo his first Premier League start of the season. Now, this opportunity faces uncertainty due to recent developments.

Given the turbulent situation at United, Bruno's early return could change things for the better, as the Portuguese has been the main man for Amorin this season, despite a busy summer last year, scoring a total of five goals and seven assists in the ongoing campaign for the Reds.

The report also suggests that Mason Mount is expected to be included in the matchday squad during United's visit to Burnley this week which could be pivotal for Amorin as he had a pretty inexperienced bench against Leeds with Joshua Zirkzee, Altay Bayindir and Tyrell Malacia being the only senior team players in the substitutes list with Zirkzee being the only one brought in as he made an immediate impact coming into the game in the 63rd minute of the game providing a crucial assist for Cunha for the equalizer as the game ended 1-1.
