Kobbie Mainoo has been desperate to leave Manchester United since the summer transfer window, but Ryan Giggs' advice for the youngster could change everything.

Kobbie Mainoo has been the talk of the town since the last summer window as he expressed his desires to leave Manchester United, citing a lack of opportunities under Ruben Amorin, which has been evident this season as the youngster has been left out of the manager's plans.

Mainoo is yet to start a Premier League game for the Reds this season, as he made 11 appearances coming off the bench and has been able to make only one goal contribution, as he provided an assist during his sole start of the season against Grimsby Town, as United got knocked out of the tournament by the League Two side.

The 20-year-old was a revelation under Erik ten Hag but has failed to get into Amorin's plans, with the Portuguese manager citing Mainoo's position as clashing with Bruno Fernandes's, resulting in the youngster being demoted to second string.

Rumours have been plentiful regarding Mainoo's departure since the past summer, as the player was reluctant to leave Old Trafford for a club where he would be a regular starter, thereby increasing his chances of representing England at the World Cup this year in the United States.

As we enter the January transfer window, Mainoo's future with United is once again under scrutiny. Bruno's untimely injury could change the club's stance on letting the Three Lions' youngster go during the winter.

Ryan Giggs' advice for Kobbie Mainoo

Amidst all this, Ryan Giggs offered advice to his fellow Manchester United academy graduate while talking to METRO. He said, "As a footballer, you want to play. But I would have more patience because he is only 20. It is difficult to play centre midfield for Man United. It’s like a striker; you don’t see many really young strikers playing for Man United because it is difficult."

"We all feel that he should be getting more minutes, but he needs to be patient. He’s still young, he’s still learning the game. And when he does get his chance, he needs to take it. So I’d like to see him stay."

Although it seems Mainoo might have to wait to grab his opportunity amidst Bruno's absence, as the youngster himself is out injured, the good news is that he is scheduled to be available for selection before his captain, which might provide Mainoo with his long-awaited opportunity to prove Amorin wrong.
