Manchester United's inconsistent run of form shows no sign of stopping as they were held in a one all draw against bottom of the table team Wolverhampton during their last fixture of 2025.
The last time United won back to back matches was in October as they defeated Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton in the three premier league fixtures of that month which has drawn heavy criticism on manager Ruben Amorin.
Despite a busy summer transfer window, Amorin seems to lack in terms of squad depth as injuries and suspensions have hurt the side during some major fixtures of the first half of the season where the Gaffer failed to replace find replacements for his first team players.
The Wolves game was another example of this dire situation at United as they had to play out the match without top stars like Mason Mount, Bryan Mbuemo, Amad Diallo and both of their top string defenders, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire and ofcourse captain Bruno Fernandes.
Amorin failed to deal with Fernandes' absence as the Reds clearly failed to create from the middle of the park due to which young Patrick Dorgu had to run his lungs out for the entire game.
Despite all the fresh reinforcements brought in by Man United, Bruno remains the benchmark of excellence at the club as Fabrizio Romano dropped a major stat of Most Chances Created in the top five leagues in 2025 which has been topped by none other than Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese superstar finished the year with 103 chances created throughout the year leaving Michael Olise, Romano Schmid and Mohamed Salah behind as they failed to cross the 100 mark in the above mentioned statistics.
After spending half a decade at Old Trafford, Fernandes has emerged out as an indispensable player for every manager at the helm of United during the past few years which clearly shows his quality as a top midfielder in the modern game.
The 31-year-old has scored five goals and seven assists in the ongoing season as he leads the assists chart of the league alongside Rayan Cherki of Manchester City despite United trailing by 15 points from league leaders Arsenal.
Although United are only two points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand against Leeds tonight as the Reds could still finish inside the Champions league spots but as it seems Fernandes' speedy but careful recovery from his ongoing muscle injury would be a key factor in their quest for a top four finish this season.
