Life after Ruben Amorim begins with a draw for Manchester United. Despite facing a team that hasn't won in the Premier League since October, the Red Devils drew 2-2 against Burnley, in a match they started by losing, had high doses of bad luck, and in the end only took a point. Only Sunderland (9) has drawn more matches than United (8) this Premier League season.
Burnley generated little, mostly down the left flank, and from there, the first goal came in the 13th minute. The home side created superiority on that side. Bashir Humphreys attempted a cross that hit Ayden Heaven, and the ball ended up creeping in at the far post.
From there, United dominated the match but could not equalize before halftime. On a couple of occasions, Burnley was saved on the line; another couple were wasted by Benjamin Sesko, and Dubravka was the standout of the first 45 minutes, and even a goal by Lisandro Martínez was disallowed for a foul on Kyle Walker, in a corner where there were enough pulls and hugs to call anything.
Luck changed for Sesko and United at the start of the second half. A double from the striker within 10 minutes, ending his goal drought in the 50th minute (he hadn't scored since Oct. 4) and turning the game around by the 60th. Given how the match was going, it seemed Burnley was on the ropes, but Jaidon Anthony rubbed the lamp and, with a shot from outside the box, made it 2-2 just six minutes later.
The match opened up after the equalizer. There were end-to-end actions for several minutes, but United began to dominate play again, without luck. Sesko was close to a third, and Shea Lacey was close to scoring a wonder goal, but the crossbar denied him.
In the end, a 2-2 at Turf Moor that leaves no one happy: United sleeps in sixth place, outside European spots, and Burnley is second-to-last, winless in its last 12 matches and 8 points from safety.
