The interim manager, Michael Carrick, on Tuesday talked for the first time as Manchester United's new interim manager after replacing Darren Fletcher at least till the end of the season, and his first job would be to calm things down after a couple of turbulent weeks at the club.
The 44-year-old has been a United man throughout his career, making 464 appearances for the Red Devils during his playing days, and has also managed the club for three games in 2021 following Ole Gunnar Solskjær's departure in November that year.
This would be Carrick's first job since leaving Middlesbrough in June last year, as he shared his thoughts on joining his former club during Manchester United's Inside Carrington podcast:
"It's really welcoming and has been a really good environment to settle into already. I felt that I felt the love, and everyone is willing to pull in the right direction. It's been a great place to be in on day one."
"For me, it's (about) working with the players. I love working with the players and helping them get better individually, which, hopefully, will help the team improve, and I want to be there to support them. I'm one of them, we're all in it together, and I think it's important that we all look after each other.

Carrick's United squad will return to the training ground on Wednesday to prepare for the Manchester derby, scheduled for Saturday. The Reds will definitely go into the game as underdogs, but their new interim manager would hope to turn things around by winning one of the most difficult fixtures of the season this weekend.
