One of Manchester United's own, Kobbie Mainoo has recently been alienated by manager Ruben Amorin. Sighting the youngsters style of gameplay clashing with that of Bruno Fernandes and it is hard for him to him to play Mainoo over the United captain.
The English international is yet to start a Premier league game for the Manchester this season, while making 11 appearances from the bench despite being hailed as one of England's brightest talents. He was an integral part of the Three Lions' EURO 2024 squad as he even started the final against Spain which unfortunately they lost.
The 20-year-old forward was advised to leave the club in the upcoming transfer windows as Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt tipped him to join Chelsea. Although according to recent reports, the United management is unlikely to let Mainoo leave on a permanent transfer as they are only looking for loan deal for the time being.
Despite the recent criticism, Amorin brought in the youngster during the 61st minute of the game in place of Casemiro who scored United's second goal right before the end of the first half against Bournemouth last Monday. It happened to be Mainoo's earliest substitution in the league this season and that also at a time when the Reds were trailing 3-2 in the game.
Unfortunately, Man United were held to a 4-4 draw against the Cherries but an uncomfortable move from Mainoo's half brother Jordan Mainoo-Hames has infuriated United legend Roy Keane as he was Hames put on a shirt with "FREE KOBBIE MAINOO" written on it while being in the stands.
Keane slammed Mainoo during the Stick to Football podcast saying, "He's got his idiot of a brother doing all that... we shouldn't even be giving that kind of stuff the time of day. Sometimes you're just surrounded by idiots, especially the families."
The former United skipper also talked about Mainoo's situation with his boyhood club saying, "Are you telling me that he can't sit there for another six months? He might think the manager's on his way out in the summer," Keane said. "He's 20 years of age, what's wrong with sitting and learning your trade? And even if he's not getting a chance, we've all had to do it."
As pointed out by Keane, for a player with the talent of Mainoo, he should try and fight his way into a club with the stature of Man United.
