Manchester United are yet to decide on their manager and one of their favourites for the job has reportedly decided on his future already.

Manchester United parted ways with Ruben Amorin at the turn of the year after a series of bad results and a controversial press conference, as the Reds' top-four aspiration was slowly looking like a distant dream.

Since Michael Carrick took over United as their interim manager for the rest of the season, the Reds have maintained a sensational run of five unbeaten games, winning four and drawing one. The fact that Carrick and his men took on and won against Manchester City and Arsenal in the former United midfielder's first two games in charge is even more remarkable.

Carrick apparently didn't get to sign any new recruits during the winter transfer window, as the club would rather like to find a permanent replacement for Amorin first before they move into any sort of talks for a probable move for any of their transfer targets but despite all of that, the 44-year-old has found a way to rejuvenate the side's spirit since taking over.

The Reds are currently placed fourth in the Premier League, with only 12 matches left to play, including tonight's game against Everton. The club's management has definitely begun its search for a new permanent manager, with Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, and Xavi already emerging as probable candidates for the job.

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has also been linked with a move to Man United on different occasions ever since he left the Los Blancos in 2021, and maybe his name was also on the table for discussion this time round, but as it seems the former Ballon d'Or winner has made his decision already regarding his next job.

As reported by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Manchester Evening News), Zidane has reached a 'verbal agreement' to take over as the head coach of the French national side after the World Cup, when current head coach Didier Deschamps steps down from his job.

This recent revelation has seemingly been received with mixed feelings from the fans, as some felt dejected from the news of Zidane's recent agreement, as they would have loved to see the Champions League three-peat winning manager in their dug-out, despite the fact that he was not directly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

While other fans feel that Carrick should at least be given a full season after his charismatic start in his second stint as United's Interim manager, it seems the former midfielder's chances of landing a permanent role would depend on United's position in the league table at the end of this season.
