Manchester United have officially announced the midfielder's move to the Swiss club on loan for the rest of the season.

After a long time, it feels like there is some positivity around Manchester United. Michael Carrick has made a brilliant start to life as interim boss, with wins over table toppers Arsenal and crosstown rivals Man City. The win over Fulham, thanks to a late goal from Benjamin Sesko, also proved their ability to dig deep and get a result even when the going gets tough.

Of course, it is far too early to get carried away. It is very possible that Manchester United might find themselves back in a tough spot soon. The early signs have been very positive though.

Now, it is about how Carrick's Man Utd side develops from here. In the past, we have seen the club have bright starts under different managers, only to fade away after a little while. The perfect example of that would be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, another club legend who had looked like the chosen one at one point.

The club do have a lot of talent coming through the ranks, who will be hoping to get a chance under Carrick, something that seemed to be lacking during the Ruben Amorim era at times.

Then again, it is difficult for any manager to consistently give playing time to youngsters when the expectation is to win as often as possible. So, a few might have to leave on loan. One did this month, although the news might have gone under the radar.

Manchester United have announced that Sekou Kone has joined Lausanne-Sport on loan until the end of the season.

Lausanne-Sport play in the Swiss top flight and do have a reputation for developing talent. Manchester United already have Enzo Kana-Biyik on loan there, so Kone will be joining a familiar face in Switzerland.

Kone was signed by Manchester United in the summer of 2024 after his impressive displays for Mali at the  2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named in the team of the tournament, and the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where his team finished third.

Teams like Crystal Palace, Wolves and RB Salzburg were also linked with Kone at the time, but he ultimately ended up signing for Manchester United.

At 20 years of age, he has not made his senior debut yet though, and needed to get a taste of top-level football. So, this loan spell in Switzerland could help him take the next step in his development.
