Manchester United are interested in a move for PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but a sensational summer swoop faces significant hurdles.

It's safe to say that it will be a very interesting summer transfer window for Manchester United

We don't even know who the manager will be, let alone what the make up of the playing squad will be, so there is plenty of anticipation ahead of the summer.

Plus, it's a World Cup year, so there is that to consider. Will United use the tournament to scout potential signings? It's a risky strategy. As a result of the tournament, any possible signings may not even join up with the club until August.

There is no doubt that the Reds need to strengthen in a number of key areas. They need to find the long term successor for Casemiro, with the man himself suggesting compatriot Bruno Guimaraes

Meanwhile, some fans want the club to sign a new left-back, with Luke Shaw clearly past his physical peak. Others want to upgrade on the inconsistent Diogo Dalot at right-back.

One position that seems pretty unanimous is left-wing. United built a squad for Ruben Amorim's three at the back, so neglected that position. Marcus Rashford was loaned to FC Barcelona and Alejandro Garnacho sold to Chelsea, with no replacement brought in.

So, it is clear that position is one to be targeted this summer, especially with Rashford most likely joining Barcelona permanently. So, who should the club bring in?

Well, one left-winger they are reportedly looking at is PSG and Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Indeed, with Transfersdotcom suggesting that United could make a "surprise" move for the player.

There is no doubt that any deal would be hard to do. The 25-year old has a contract with the European champions until 2029, and is simply playing in a better team than United. PSG don't need the money, so there is no incentive for them to listen to offers just yet.

Next summer, when he enters the final two years of his contract, could be a different story. But for now, it feels like it would be hard to get the player out of the French capital - particularly if the club do not qualify for the UEFA Champions League. In fact, you feel they would have to do that to even have a remote chance.

A bonus is that Georgia are not participating at the World Cup this summer, so it would not be one of those deals where the player is not ready for pre-season until late July and into August.

This one feels somewhat improbable, but well, let's see.
