Back in the Champions League race under Carrick, Manchester United is already planning its summer moves. The Red Devils have set their sights on a Bournemouth star.

Manchester United is one of the most important and well-known teams in Europe and all around the world. Despite the difficulties and ups and downs the Red Devils have faced in recent years, they remain a top club and one where players want to play.

The Red Devils invested heavily last summer in players who could raise the team's level, and the objective for the 2025/26 season was to qualify for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. The club started the season under Amorim, but the team's results and performances weren’t at the level they expected, so the club's directors decided to fire the Portuguese coach.

They hired a former club legend, such as Michael Carrick, as their interim manager until the end of the season. Under Carrick, the team's results and performances improved significantly. Also, the players seem to be enjoying training and playing under Michael. In all the matches the Red Devils have played under Carrick so far, they have lost only one, the last one against Newcastle.

Manchester United is currently third in the Premier League, with the same number of points as Aston Villa, which is fourth. The players are fighting and will fight until the last second in order to achieve the objective of qualifying for the Champions League. On the other hand, the club is working to find new players who can raise the team's level even further.

The club's directors are watching players both inside and outside the league. One area where the club is planning to invest again is the attacking area. The Red Devils have invested heavily in the last couple of transfer windows in strikers or attacking wingers. Also, last summer, the club invested a lot in attacking players like Sesko, Mbuemo, and Cunha.

For this reason, according to The Mirror, the club is closely monitoring Bournemouth in England, and the Red Devils are interested in the services of Marcus Tavernier. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has been part of Bournemouth since 2022, and his contract expires in 2029.

Tavernier has played a total of 116 matches for Bournemouth with 18 goals scored and 18 assists given. This season, Marcus has played 26 matches across all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists. He is one of Bournemouth's most important players and has helped the team achieve its objectives.

The Red Devils were interested in another Bournemouth player, Semenyo, but they lost the race for the winger, who went to Manchester City. It seems United will return to Bournemouth again, but for another player like Tavernier.

For Marcus, United isn’t the only team interested, as clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle, and others are watching the player closely. Bournemouth put a price tag of around 40 million pounds on the English player, and if the right offer comes in, the player may be sold.
