Manchester United is on the hunt to find a permanent replacement for Ruben Amorin, and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as a potential candidate.

A lot has happened since the sacking of former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorin as the club crashed out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat against Brighton under the management of caretaker manager Darren Fletcher, after which the Reds defeated Manchester City within a span of seven days in Michael Carrick's first game in charge.

United has appointed Carrick for the rest of the season with only 16 games left to play this campaign, as they have been knocked out of both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, but these remaining Premier League games will play an important role in the former Man United midfielder's future as the Reds aim for a top four finish at the end of this season.

Although the club management is definitely on the lookout for a permanent and more experienced solution for the pertaining situation at United, and various names have been making the rounds in the news, with the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, Xavi Hernandez, and Oliver Glasner being linked to a move to Manchester next season.

Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has also emerged as a serious candidate for the job, as the Italian manager recently issued a statement during a press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News) saying, "My focus is totally on Marseille. I wanted to come here. The day before a very important, very crucial game, I have no space in my head to think about other things. I feel very well in this city, with these players and this club.
"As for the future, we have got to speak in the next month. In the next year, I don't know."

De Zerbi rightfully answered the question about his future pretty professionally, as he is currently under contract with the Ligue 1 side until the summer of 2027.

But things might change at the end of this season if United knock on his door with a contract in hand, given the legendary status of the Reds.

De Zerbi's experience of managing Premier league side Brighton and Hove Albion will be a major plus point in his resume as the Italian manager finished sixth in the league in his first season as the head coach of the Seagulls resulting in the club's qualification in the Europa league for the following season as Brighton played in an European competition for the first time in their history under De Zerbi.

The 46-year-old is known for his attacking style of football with a knack for playing out from the back, having much of the ball possession, which could be a good fit for the Reds  with Bruno Fernandes as their midfield general, making him a strong candidate for the managerial role at United next season.
