In recent years, Manchester United has had a close relationship with the Serie A and the Italian league players. There have been several players that United has bought from different Serie A clubs. On the other side, there are also a lot of players from Manchester United who have went in Serie A and have been the best players of their teams in Italy.
The last players that Manchester United have in their team now coming from Italy are Amad Diallo, Patrick Dorgu, and Joshua Zirkzee. And there are several former players of Manchester United who left the team recently in order to go and play in Serie A, like McTominay and Højlund at Napoli.
Another important player of United seems to follow this path and play in the Italian league in the near future. Harry Maguire seems to have attracted the interest of different teams from Serie A. His contract expires in the summer of 2026, and the Red Devils seem oriented to sell the player now rather than losing him for free in the summer. This option is well appreciated by the defender because his minutes this season haven’t been high, and he doesn’t want to lose his place on the England team for the World Cup this summer in the US.
Important teams like Inter and Napoli are interested in getting the English defender to add more options and value to the defenses of their teams for the second part of the season. Inter is looking at Maguire as a replacement for Acerbi or De Vrij. Instead, Napoli is looking at him to replace the young defender Marianucci.
Also, another historical team like Fiorentina is looking at Maguire as a huge investment for their team in order to help them in their fight for survival in Serie A. This transfer is very difficult due to the cost of operation, especially the salary that the defender gets at United.
Maguire is looking at every option in order to find the best solution to his situation, keeping in mind that United recently changed its coach. We need to wait to see if the train that connects the Serie A with Manchester United will function this January transfer market, or will be postponed to the summer, and the tradition will continue.
