Sunderland are already planning for the summer—and a surprise name tops their defensive shortlist.

Sunderland is one of the most surprising teams of the Premier League this season. They have done great performances and have achieved great results. The team is focused on the results on the pitch, but from the other side, the club is already planning the plans and objectives for the upcoming summer transfer market.

The club is looking to strengthen the defense, and for this reason, they are looking at Manchester United. Sunderland is interested in securing the services of the Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia. People may have forgotten due to the inactivity of Malacia with United, but the Dutch defender is still part of the Red Devils.

Malacia is a 26-year-old left back who came to United in the summer of 2022. In these 4 years, Tyrell has played for United in 48 matches and hasn’t scored any goals. Last season, he was on loan at PSV in the Netherlands, and since his return to United, Malacia has played only one match this season.

During his time at Manchester United, Malacia has had a lot of injuries, and this has not permitted him to be fully fit in order to express his full potential. The contract of the Dutch defender with the Red Devils expires in the summer of this year, and it seems the club will not renew it.

Despite all the injury problems that the Dutch defender has faced in recent months, a lot of clubs are interested in getting him and securing his services. Teams from the Premier League and other important European leagues are looking at Malacia as a concrete opportunity to strengthen their teams.

But from all the interested teams, based on the rumors, in pole position for the Dutch defender is Sunderland. They are very interested in getting Malacia in the summer as a free transfer and to make him an important element of their team. Also, this could be an opportunity for a new life start for Tyrell in order to get his career back on track and to return to the player he was in the past.
