Four days after Ruben Amorin's departure from Manchester United, the club played its first game under interim manager Darren Fletcher, resulting in a two-all draw against Burnley.
Chelsea is going through a similar situation. They relieved Enzo Maresca of his duties on New Year's Day. It seems Liam Rosenior was already on their list, as BlueCo. appointed the Englishman within a week of Maresca's sacking.
Although it seems this isn't the case for United, as the club management is still on the lookout for a permanent replacement for Amorin, as various names are being floated in the rumours, ironically, Maresca was even being linked with a move to Old Trafford, but that move is highly unlikely to happen, at least not in the near future.
There are also some names like Oliver Glasner, Thomas Tuchel, and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær who could be the most ideal candidates to be at the helm of the Reds, but United legend Roy Keane thinks another sensational manager would be the ideal fit for the club.
According to Keane, he would like to see current Newcastle manager Eddie Howe at Old Trafford in the upcoming days, as he gave his opinion on Sky Sports (h/t The People's Person), saying, "I'd go for Eddie Howe. I like him. I like what he's done, his management. He’s managed a lot of games; when his teams are at it, they play good football."
"I know he's not for everyone, he’ll have his critics, but I like what he’s done at Newcastle and Bournemouth, he’s managed 700 to 800 games, he's still a young man. I love his calmness, I think sometimes Man United need a bit of that."
The Magpies under Howe are currently placed 6th in the Premier League,as they sit just above United despite being level on points courtesy of their advantage on goal difference, and also they have managed to reach the EFL Cup semifinals as they are scheduled to host Manchester City during the first leg of the tie next week, following their FA Cup game against Bournemouth tomorrow.
Newcastle is also pretty much in the mix to reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, which certainly adds to the already decent resume of Howe, and he has achieved all this being only 48 years old, which has seemingly made Keane pick him as his ideal choice for a permanent role at Man United.
