Luis Enrique's "irresistible" vision captivated Dro, securing his move to PSG. Find out why Barcelona's starlet chose Paris over other giants.

If it is taking time to materialize, the transfer of Dro Fernandez to Paris Saint-Germain is not under threat and should soon be made official, as the Barcelona attacking midfielder was convinced by the "irresistible" sporting project that was presented to him personally by Luis Enrique.

Reported as almost finalized last weekend, the transfer of Pedro Fernandez Sarmiento, known as Dro, to PSG is still not official, despite the player's desire to join Paris and the club's intention to trigger his release clause set at only 6 million euros ($6.5 million).

According to the Catalan press, Barcelona would like to scrape together a few more million euros and is thus demanding 10 million euros ($10.8 million) from PSG, which could explain this slight delay.

PSG is obviously not obliged to accept, but according to Sport, the Parisian club might do so to maintain good relations with Barcelona, which would also like Dro to contribute as a gesture of gratitude toward his formative club. It is also possible that the famous bureaucratic details are ultimately more complicated to finalize than expected.

We recall that the payment of Neymar's release clause, set at 222 million euros ($240 million), later led to fiscal complications, with some tax authorities questioning whether PSG should have paid taxes on that sum, officially settled by the Brazilian himself but obviously financed by PSG.

It could therefore be much simpler for PSG to carry out a standard transfer with Barcelona for Dro than to proceed with the payment of his release clause, even if it means paying a few million extra. The player has, in any case, indeed decided to join Paris and not Manchester City or Dortmund, which were also courting him according to many corroborating sources.

Dro Chose PSG Over Barcelona, Seduced By Luis Enrique's 'Irresistible' Project

According to the Catalan outlet Sport, Luis Enrique was unsurprisingly decisive in this matter, as he shares the same agent as Dro Fernandez and travels regularly to Barcelona, his second home.

"During one of his regular trips to Barcelona, the Asturian coach personally met the young footballer and presented him with a sporting project that, in the player's eyes, was irresistible," writes Sport, which confirmed that this meeting was decisive in the choice of the 18-year-old player.

While not specified in the Catalan media's article, one can imagine that, as with other Parisian recruits, Luis Enrique clearly explained to Dro where he planned to play him (probably in several positions) and promised him playing time, even though the Spaniard likes to repeat that competition exists for every position and no one is guaranteed to play. But Luis Enrique has never been afraid to play young players, and that must have carried weight.

For Sport, Dro will certainly get minutes in Ligue 1, and the fact that Luis Enrique is under contract with PSG until 2027 is another guarantee.

Dro's versatility, being able to play as a No. 10, winger, or even box-to-box midfielder, is also an asset for the player, who is certainly aware of his future coach's attraction to players who can operate in several positions and are comfortable on the ball, as he is.
