Dro Fernandez dazzles on PSG debut, leaving Hojbjerg stumbling with sublime skill and daring escapes. A promising glimpse of Spanish flair.

Dro Fernandez made his grand debut in Paris Saint-Germain colors Sunday night, replacing Senny Mayulu in the 75th minute of the "Classique" won 5-0 over Marseille. A chance to appreciate the technical finesse of the young Spanish midfielder, who made poor Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg dance.

Recruited by PSG on January 26, Dro Fernandez was not eligible to face Newcastle two days later in the Champions League and had remained on the bench at the Meinau during PSG's 2-1 victory in Strasbourg a week ago. This Sunday night, PSG's new number 27 was presented at the Parc des Princes before the "Classique" against Marseille.

A substitute at kickoff, the former Barcelona prospect entered the game in the 75th minute, just after the 5th goal scored by Lee Kang-in. Dro Fernandez replaced Senny Mayulu in a fairly offensive right-sided box-to-box midfielder role and was very clean with all his touches. He was seen both escaping the press from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in stoppage time before being brought down by a Marseille player.

Dro vs. Hojbjerg

But the young Spanish attacking midfielder especially delighted the Parc des Princes a few minutes earlier with a nice piece of technical skill, again facing poor Hojbjerg, who was completely overwhelmed by his opponent's mobility and finesse.

A sequence that also pleased Luis Enrique and was, moreover, useful as it allowed Lee Kang-in to continue the attack. Art in service of the game, it's beautiful.

"It was my first match, and I am very happy," said Dro Fernandez to PSG TV after the match. "I felt very comfortable, and I want to thank all my teammates who made it easier for me, as well as all the staff. The stadium atmosphere? It's incredible! The truth is, I didn't imagine this much atmosphere... I am very grateful to the supporters who backed us and who continue to do so."
